WAPC 2026

The West Australian Pianists Competition is an annual event held here in Western Australia and it is a competition of top standards attracting pianists of all levels nationally and internationally.

Event details:

The West Australian Pianists Competition is an annual event held here in Western Australia and it is a piano competition of top standards attracting pianists of all levels nationally and internationally. It has helped discover many new talents in piano performance over the past 20 years and is predominantly a piano festival that showcase many top pianists in this region.

  • Spectator Ticket

    Spectator (aged 12 and over) of all competition sections. (Not including Masterclass, Awards Ceremony or any other events.) Children under the age of 12 have free entry. Contestant section entries include 1 free spectator.

  • Open Championship Recital

    Rule Summary: Each competitor must perform at least two contrasting pieces (different periods) within the time limit indicated. Performance must be from memory. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for details relating to these sections. Contestant entry tickets include the free entry of 1 spectator and any additional children under 12.

    • Novice Recital Section

      Rule summary: For anybody who has learnt piano for less than 12 months (a year). Pieces must not exceed the time limit. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for details relating to these sections. Contestant entry tickets include the free entry of 1 spectator and any additional children under 12.

      • Grades Recital Sections

        Rule summary: Each competitor must perform at least two contrasting pieces (different periods or lists) within the time limit indicated. These pieces must be from the current (same year) AMEB syllabus (including Piano for Leisure) except Novice section. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for details relating to these sections. Contestant entry tickets include the free entry of 1 spectator and any additional children under 12.

      • Grade Solo Sections

        Rule summary: 1 piece only, within the respective grade of the AMEB syllabus. Any piece chosen in this category can be re-used in another category.
